We’re helping the owner of Weir Caravan Park at Stamford Bridge in East Yorkshire to future-proof his business against the growing flood risk that we face here in the UK and, at the same time, making it possible for him to get full flood insurance cover through Compass.

In March 2025, we installed the first of several Flood Adaptive Platforms that we’ll be supplying to site owner Kevin Hind, having already installed our Flood Early Warning System to provide him with highly accurate updates as a flood event unfolds. This will support the timely and safe evacuation of people before flooding actually occurs.

Our team of flood risk experts are retrofitting our Flood Adaptive Platforms to caravans on the picturesque site, which sits on an island in the River Derwent. This will give them the unique ability to detect and react to flood conditions by automatically elevating above the rising water.

Kevin Hind of Weir Caravan Park, said: “As a riverside holiday park, knowing that Compass will insure our caravans once we’ve installed Flood Technology Group’s innovative products gives us peace of mind. Our close proximity to the river is one of the main reasons that people enjoy visiting our caravan park but, with climate change increasing the level of flood risk that we face here in the UK, it was important to future-proof our business.

“The Flood Technology Group team are incredibly knowledgable and were able to advise us on the best approach to suit our needs. The installation was quick, easy and caused minimal mess and disruption. We believe that this type of cutting edge technology is the way forward for sites like ours; it’s undoubtedly the best way to protect people and property.”

Simon Gilliland, Chief Executive of Flood Technology Group, said: “We have our headquarters here in Yorkshire, so it’s great to be working on our first climate resilience project in our home county and we’re delighted to be able to assist the team at Weir Caravan Park.

“Our Flood Adaptive Platform has already been successfully applied to modular buildings and mobile homes/holiday lodges, but its potential is limitless, across the globe and across many different sectors. With so many holiday parks located in riverside or coastal areas, our changing climate means that the level of flood risk that they face is growing rapidly.”

Compass, a leading specialist insurance provider to the holiday park sector, is happy to consider providing full flood insurance cover to customers who fit Flood Technology Group’s ground-breaking Flood Adaptive Platforms to their caravan, lodge or holiday home.
